The United States Department of Veterans Affairs, South Central (VISN 16) Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC), is soliciting inquiries from professional research groups to administer a 45 minute to a one hour telephone-based survey of the effects of Hurricane Katrina on veterans with and without pre-hurricane mental illness. The survey will query 500 veterans in the following domains: demographic information, hurricane stressors, hurricane loss, post-hurricane social support, cognitive appraisal of meaning of reactions to hurricane, current work and social functioning, current common post-disaster mental disorders including post traumatic stress disorder, major depression, gad, and panic disorder. Questions for the survey will be provided by MIRECC. The survey group will be responsible for programming the Computer Assisted Telephone Interview(CATI) and will be required to pretest the CATI instrument over a 2 week period. Advanced-level interviewers with previous experience in fielding sensitive and burdensome instruments with mentally ill populations are required. The survey group must have an in-house telephone center with Computer Assisted Telephone Interview technology and support, with an adequate number of phone stations and adequate supervision of interviewing staff required to conduct calls on weekdays and weekends, in both day-time and evening hours to support the short field period. The survey group must have extensive experience with CATI programming and management, and be able to show ability to insure exceptional response rates, including extensive capability to conduct advanced-level tracking of respondents. SPECIAL ALERT: HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT

 

City of Long Beach, Mississippi The City of Long Beach, Mississippi, will receive bids for: DRAINAGE SYSTEM CLEANING at the Office of the City Clerk, Temporary City Hall on Klondyke Road, Long Beach, Mississippi, during normal office hours at any time prior to the designated bid date, or at the temporary meeting place at Long Beach School District Office on Commission Road at 5:30 PM on the designated date for the bid opening. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the regular meeting of the Board of Aldermen at 5:30 P.M., February 6, 2007. Bids are invited for the furnishing of materials, labor and equipment to remove all debris from drainage culverts, box culverts, and drainage structures, which debris was caused by Hurricane Katrina. All cleaning work shall be performed south of the CSX Railroad, within the City of Long Beach Contract Documents, including Technical Specifications, are on file at the Office of City Clerk, at City Hall, Long Beach, Mississippi. Plans and Specifications may be obtained at the office of A. Garner Russell & Associates, Inc., Consulting Engineers, Hewes Avenue at 33rd Street (Post Office Box 1677), Gulfport, Mississippi 39507, upon payment of $50.00 nonrefundable fee. A certified check or bank draft payable to the order of City of Long Beach, Mississippi, negotiable U. S. Government bonds (at par value), or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid for City of Long Beach, DRAINAGE SYSTEM CLEANING, shall be submitted with each bid. For bids exceeding $50,000 Bidder must indicate his Certificate of Responsibility Number on outside of sealed proposal as required by Mississippi Law. For bids not exceeding $50,000, Bidder must either indicate his Certificate Number, or else write clearly "Bid does not exceed $50,000." The City of Long Beach, Mississippi, reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. Bids may be held by the City of Long Beach, Mississippi, for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of the opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of Bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract.
