SPECIAL ALERT: HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT

 

W. G. Yates and Sons Construction Co., Oxford, Miss., is being awarded a $73,834,000 firm-fixed price contract for the design and construction of nine projects including training aids facility, postal center, fire crash rescue station, munitions inspection facility, library, consolidated open mess, recreation center, student dorm, and a refueler maintenance facility at Keesler Air Force Base. The work to be performed provides for the reconstruction of Hurricane Katrina damaged facilities. The contract contains two options totaling $23,613,000, which may be exercised within 180 calendar days, bringing the total contract amount to $97,447,000. Work will be performed in Biloxi, Miss., and is expected to be completed by February 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured as a two-phase design build via the Naval Facilities Engineering Command e-solicitation website with eight proposals received in Phase I, and five selected to proceed to Phase II. Two proposals were received in Phase II. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southeast, Jacksonville, Fla., is the contracting activity (N69450-08-C-0754).

Sealed bids for "City of Gulfport Hurricane Katrina New Construction" for the New Senior Center, located in Gulfport, Mississippi, will be received by the City of Gulfport at Gulfport City Hall, 2309 15th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501, until Ten O'clock A.M. Central Standard Time on Thursday, January 3, 2008, and then publicly opened and read aloud. Plans and specifications may be obtained from the architects, JBHM Architects, PA, 2548 Beach Blvd., Ste 100, Biloxi, MS 39531, Phone (228)594-2200; Fax (228)594-2020; upon deposit of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Deposit is refundable to actual bidders, provided plans and specifications are returned in good condition within ten days after bid opening date. A prebid conference will be held at the office of JBHM Architects at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond or Certified Check for five percent (5%) of the base bid.
