Title: ORANGE STREET WHARF WASHOUT REPAIRS DAMAGED BY HURRICANE KATRINA

Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans will receive sealed bids in the Purchasing Department, 2nd floor, room 240, 1350 Port of New Orleans Place, New Orleans, Louisiana 70130 on Monday, June 1, 2009, until 2:00 P.M., local time, for Requisition No. 052051. The scope of work for the Orange Street Wharf Washout will require the contractor to cut out and remove approximately 1,616 square yards of damaged 6"" thick structural concrete slab that has been undermined. Existing damaged electrical conduit will need to be removed and replaced. Three locations where existing waterlines penetrate the existing bulkhead will need to be filled with non-shrink grout, four conduit penetrations through the bulkhead will need to be capped, a retaining wall / wharf deck joint will need to be sealed to prevent future washouts and a fissured retaining wall corner will have to be grouted and secured with steel angle plate. The area below the damaged slab in the washout area will be backfilled and compacted with approximately 190 cubic yards of fill material. An existing water valve box will need to be reset to match the finished grade of the site. Upon completion of all other repair work and backfilling operations, a new 6"" structural concrete slab will need to be poured and tied into the existing slab, as well as other site work. The site is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River at the Orange Street Wharf in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Estimated Cost: $400,000 to $500,000) All Bids must be in accordance with the Bidding Documents on file with the Port of New Orleans. Complete contract documents may be obtained at Contract Administration on the 2nd floor, Room 203 at the above address upon a payment of a non-refundable fee of $50.00 per set by check or money order only to the Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans. In accordance with LSA R.S. 38:2212 (A) (1) (e). Objection to the required classification should be filed in accordance with Louisiana Revised Statute LA R.S. 37:2163 as stated by the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors. Deposit of five percent (5%) of the bid by certified check, or cashier's check, or by bid bond is required and the bidder to whom the contract is awarded shall also be required to furnish a performance bond in the total amount of the bid. The bid bond must be furnished in accordance with the requirements of LSA R.S. 38:2218 and the performance bond in accordance with the provisions of LSA R.S. 38:2219. Work in the amount of at least thirty percent (30%) of total amount of contract as awarded shall be performed by Contractor at construction site, or within his own shop, plant, or yard with his own employees. With this announcement, the Chicago District Corps of Engineers issues a Pre-solicitation Notice for its CHICAGO SHORELINE STORM DAMAGE REDUCTION EROSION CONTROL MONTROSE NORTH PLANTING PROJECT.  The Contractor will be responsible for providing all the necessary facilities, plants, labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to repair and correct the site plant community. The contractor will be required to rehabilitate poor quality areas of substrate by removing poor quality substrates and replacing with specified top soil, reseed these soil rehabilitation areas, control invasive species throughout the site, and augment the species richness by seeding throughout the site, with some areas to planted with an expanded list of species.  The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 813312 - "Environment, Conservation and Wildlife Organizations", with a Small Business Standard size of $7,000,000.00. Competition for this acquisition A TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The period of performance is for approximately 913 Calendar Days. It is anticipated that the resultant contact will be a firm-fixed price service contract (the proposed contract will also include a liquidated damages clause and the requirement for a performance bond).  The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. With this announcement, the Chicago District Corps of Engineers issues a Pre-solicitation Notice for its CHICAGO SHORELINE STORM DAMAGE REDUCTION EROSION CONTROL MONTROSE NORTH PLANTING PROJECT.  The Contractor will be responsible for providing all the necessary facilities, plants, labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to repair and correct the site plant community. The contractor will be required to rehabilitate poor quality areas of substrate by removing poor quality substrates and replacing with specified top soil, reseed these soil rehabilitation areas, control invasive species throughout the site, and augment the species richness by seeding throughout the site, with some areas to planted with an expanded list of species.  The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 813312 - "Environment, Conservation and Wildlife Organizations", with a Small Business Standard size of $7,000,000.00. Competition for this acquisition A TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The period of performance is for approximately 913 Calendar Days. It is anticipated that the resultant contact will be a firm-fixed price service contract (the proposed contract will also include a liquidated damages clause and the requirement for a performance bond).  The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader.   Interested Bidders can download the IFB Package from the Internet Site https://www.fedteds.gov/fedteds/start.nsf/frm.vendorlogin?openform&SolicitationNumber=W912P6-06-B-0009.  The solicitation will be available at the above-mentioned Internet site on or about 6 April 2009. Project: Hand Tree Thinning & Slash Treatment - This project is located on the Ashland Ranger District and Sioux Ranger District of the Custer National Forest. This project consists of cutting undesirable Ponderosa Pine trees while selecting trees with desirable characteristics for release and treatment of slash. Additional slashing of storm damaged trees, including blow down and snapped off trees is required. Work includes furnishing all labor, equipment supervisiion, transportation, supplies, and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the areas specified. Government estimated price range is $100,000 - $250,000. The solicitation will be available on approximately June 4, 2009 and can be downloaded from this site that time. Two pre-bid tours will be held: June 22nd at the Sioux Ranger District and June 23rd at the Ashland Ranger District. Meeting place and time will be outlined in the solicitation.
